NFL Tickets – Chris Johnson Tops 2010 Fantasy Players by Default
As we gear up for fantasy football season, here's a quick look at the top 10 fantasy players in the league.
1. Chris Johnson, running back, Tennessee Titans:
Johnson was nothing short of unbelievable last year as he set the league record for most yards from scrimmage. Because of his crazy upside, you will kick yourself if you don't draft Johnson and he ends up putting up another beastly year. However, running backs do tend to regress in years after putting up career seasons and Johnson doesn't come without some significant risk.
2. Adrian Peterson, running back, Minnesota Vikings:
Peterson is almost a wild card this season. As Brett Favre debates whether or not to suit up this year, it's hard to predict AP's season either way. Without Favre, they'll probably run him more but face more eight-man fronts. With Favre, he'll run less but have more running lanes. Who knows how it will actually turn out, but the Vikings still have a good offensive line and Peterson is a yards and touchdown machine. Draft him and don't look back.
3. Maurice Jones-Drew, running back, Jacksonville Jaguars:
With more than 1,700 total yards and 17 touchdowns in 2009, Jones-Drew is clearly in his prime and one of the best fantasy options in the league. Without a ton of other playmakers on the team, MJD is sure to get plenty of touches and he's been very durable so far in his career, which should make for yet another huge fantasy year.
4. Steven Jackson, running back, St. Louis Rams:
Many will have Ray Rice here, but Jackson is the more complete back at this point in his career, even if he's on a fairly uninspiring offense. Jackson didn't score a ton of touchdowns last season but his yard production was still very good. If only he was on a better team he could be up there with CJ.
5. Ray Rice, running back, Baltimore Ravens:
It's tough to figure out how Anquan Boldin's presence will affect Rice, who had more than 2,000 yards from scrimmage last year. On one hand, Rice should be less a part of the passing game but the Ravens offense as a whole should be stronger, which could mean more touchdowns. Rice is a star in this league and those who don't know should know after a few weeks in 2010.
6. Andre Johnson, running back, Houston Texans:
The gap between the top five running backs and everyone else, I feel, is pretty large. Andre Johnson is also the top receiving option in the league after posting back-to-back 1,500-yard seasons. The Texans should have a great offense again in 2010 and he'll be one of the main reasons why.
7. Michael Turner, running back, Atlanta Falcons:
Just two seasons ago, Turner put up 1,699 yards and 17 touchdowns, though last year he struggled with injury. But even in an injury-plagued year, Turner was still very good when he was on the field and even put up 10 touchdowns on the season. With the Falcons and quarterback Matt Ryan continuing to develop their talent, Turner is healthy again and appears ready to be the workhorse he was two seasons ago. Look out.
8. Frank Gore, running back, San Francisco 49ers:
Even though Gore was somewhat under the radar last year, he still had 1,500 total yards and 13 touchdowns. The 49ers should improve on offense, particularly in the passing game, which could actually cut down on the reliance on Gore to carry the load. Still, Gore is a solid choice.
9. Aaron Rodgers, quarterback, Green Bay Packers:
Though choosing Peyton Manning or Drew Brees wouldn't be a bad decision to draft as the number one quarterback, you can't argue with Rodgers' upside. Rodgers was the number one overall fantasy player in most leagues last year and he seems to only be getting better. Not only did he throw 30 touchdowns against seven picks last year but he also ran for 300 yards and five touchdowns. A season in which he has a combined 40 touchdowns is definitely not out of the question.
10. Randy Moss, wide receiver, New England Patriots:
For those who think that Moss is a risky pick here, don't. Moss has always helped sell NFL tickets but he's also in a contract season with the Pats. Quarterback Tom Brady is also another year removed from his horrible knee injury and getting those two back on track could be devastating for the rest of the league.

NFL Week 7: Start Manning vs JAC or Hasselbeck vs StL?
Last time I asked a Manning question, all I got was "Always start Manning" which isn't ALWAYS the best option, given their opponents.
I'm inclined to start Manning vs Jacksonville, however Hasselbeck vs a weak St. Louis defense is also very tempting.
The JAC defense is allowing an average of 11.6 pts/game while StL defense is allowing an average of 26.5 pts/game.
Offensively, Manning has 10 TDs with 1319 yards passing so far this year, and Hasselbeck has 9 TDs with 1510 yards. On average, Manning has 2 TDs/game and Hasselbeck has 1.5 TDs/game.
So, other than "Always start Manning", does anyone have some insight on who I should start this week? The stats tend to lean towards Hasselbeck, but I'm kinda loyal towards Manning since he's been my workhorse for the past 2 fantasy seasons.
well if i were you id pick hassleback over manning. because hasslbeack is pretty good and the rams are terrible this year. the jags defense is very very good. and whenever they play the colts, 90% of the time it comes down to lat minutes of the game. my cousin used to pay for the jags and i went to every home game for 5 years so i would know. the jags are a very good team too and peyton is good but hes had trouble in the past with the jags defense so go with hassleback
